NUCLEAR

Civil Nuclear energy is just one of South Yorkshire’s strengths. The region is home to the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC). This is a collaboration of leading academic and industrial partners from across the nuclear supply chain, aiming to help UK manufacturers win work at home and abroad.

It is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult – a thriving alliance of seven leading manufacturing R&D centres backed by the UK Government. Nuclear AMRC use a range of technologies to find ways to reduce machining costs and optimise production, thus ensuring programme delivery and driving up competitiveness. This includes dynamic analysis, simulation, advanced fixturing and tool design.

“The AMRC contains an impressive array of specialised facilities, each dedicated to providing advanced manufacturing companies in the region and beyond access to industrial expertise, cutting-edge machines and equipment, and, ultimately, solutions to complex technological challenges.”
Bruce Katz – Vice President of the Brookings Institution
