LOGISTICS CORRIDOR

South Yorkshire is located at a central hub in the UK’s motorway network, providing direct access to the M1, A1 and M18 North-South motorways, and the M62 and M180 East-West motorways.

The iPort, South Yorkshire’s premier logistics hub with capacity for six million sq. ft. of Grade A warehousing is in a great location, super-connected to the rest of the UK. Based just off the M18 (J3) the iPort is also less than 4 miles away from Doncaster Sheffield Airport and home to Amazon’s new £100m logistics facility, Amazon’s third fulfilment centre in the region alone. The 1.1 million square foot warehouse is the product of a long and successful working relationship between Amazon, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and South Yorkshire.

By locating your distribution centre in South Yorkshire, you can serve not only the UK but also Europe and the world.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is ideally placed for importing and exporting. It can handle the world’s largest cargo aircraft and caters for specialist heavy and urgent cargo as well as belly cargo in passenger services. The airport operates 24/7 365 days a year. There are also a further 6 international airports within a 90-minute drive.

The region is at the heart of the UK’s motorway and Trunk Road Network, has daily rail freight services to and from UK ports and companies can import and export through the West and East Coast ports.

From East to West the sea ports of the Humber and the North Sea and Liverpool are within easy reach. There are daily ferry services from Hull to Rotterdam.

Over 20,000 people are directly employed in the sector and businesses can benefit from a large flexible labour pool that enables them to meet seasonal demand. In addition to the existing 45 distribution centres, the region has earmarked over 10 million sq. ft. of warehousing space for future development including sites that are rail connected and offer multimodal capabilities. Many of these sites are also located on motorway junctions.

Investors benefit from support with research, property searches, access to funding, recruitment and training and with networks and local knowledge including local supply chain and collaboration opportunities.
