KEY SHEFFIELD CITY REGION FIGURES AWARDED IN NEW YEAR’S HONOURS LIST

Sheffield City Region LEP and Combined Authority board member and Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones and former LEP chairman, James Newman both received recognition in the Queen’s Honour’s List.
Mayor Ros Jones, the directly elected Mayor of Doncaster, and Sheffield City Region LEP and Combined Authority board member has been recognised for her hard work in the Queen’s Honour’s List. She has been instrumental in the regeneration of the town and she received a CBE for services to local government. Mayor Jones has been mayor of Doncaster since May 2013.
James Newman, formerly chairman of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Board, is the recipient of an OBE for services to business, the economy and charity in Yorkshire. As Chairman of Sheffield City Region LEP, James was instrumental in establishing the LEP in 2010. The LEP – one of 39 nationwide – is a collaboration between local council and business leaders and is seen as one of the best in the country. Through its devolution deal with government it has gained powers over areas including skills, business growth, infrastructure, transport and housing, backed by a £300m Growth Deal. James stepped down in 2015.
